HALL OF FAME

Dr. Seshagiri Raghukumar, was born on 26 May, 1946 in Tamil Nadu, India.  After completing his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Botany from Madras University, India, he did his Ph.D. on marine fungi under the guidance of the famous mycologist, Prof. C.V. Subramanian, at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, Madras University from 1967 to 1972.  He worked as a Scientist at the Institute for Marine Research, Bremerhaven, Germany between 1976 and 1981, during which time he was groomed by Dr Alwin Gaertner in the taxonomy and ecology of the marine fungi belonging to thraustochytrids.  He joined the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India in 1982 and worked there till 2004. 

He took the plunge and established MykoTech Pvt. Ltd. In 2004.  The company focussed on becoming an excellent collection of miroorganisms, starting initially with fungi and later expanding to include bacteria and to apply them in biotechnology.
